Implementation of national project on BioGas
development programmes is a part of 20 points programme of central government. The main
objective of the projects are
- To provide fuel for cooking purpose and organic manure to rural
house holds through family type bio gas plants.
- To mitigate drudgery of rural women, reduce pressure on forests
and accentuate social benefits
- To improve sanitation in village by linking sanitory toilets with
bio gas plants
The programme came in to operation intensively
since 1982-83. The programme is on subsidy pattern.
Priorities:
- Minimum of 10% plants to SC/ST families and a minimum of 5% of
plants to tribal families of the total plants targetted in the district.
- Hilly regions, places where there is a problem for fuel , places
where there is threat on forest degradation
- Sanitory linked bio-gas plants
The provision is also made to repair the plants constructed prior
to 1984-85.
